Transit Connection

Sauk Centre city bus service is available 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Service within the city and township

Melrose city bus service is available 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cost:

  • City: $1.25 per one way or one city token 
  • Rural: $3.00 per one way ($6.00 Round Trip) or rural tokens and $1.25 for each additional "in city" stop/boarding

Paynesville Living at Home/Block Nurse Program (R.O.S.E. Center)

This program is for senior citizens living in the Paynesville School District, which includes Meeker and Stearns Counties.  It utilizes volunteers to help seniors live at home independently by providing services such as transportation, caregiver respite support and education, and chore, homemaker and social activities.  There is a sliding fee scale for these services.   However, no one will be denied service because of an inability to pay.  Office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Helping Hands Outreach to Elders, Inc.

We organize volunteer drivers to provide rides to persons age 60 and above. Rides are for persons living within our service area who need a ride within the service area or to St. Cloud or Little Falls or other nearby communities.  There are no fees charged for these services; donations are gladly accepted.

Service area is within a five mile radius of the rural Stearns County communities of Holdingford, Opole, St. Anna, St. Anthony, St. Francis, and St. Wendel

Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network

Transportation for Veterans within a 50 mile radius of St. Cloud.  Must be able to get in and out of vans with minimal assistance.  Spouses and aides may accompany veterans.  Veteran must lack personal transportation and lack access to Metro Bus Service.  Services available Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, not available on holidays.  Must provide a 72 hour notice.  There are no fees charged for these services.

Veteran's Affairs Medical Center

Transportatin provided for Veterans from St. Cloue VAMC to Minneapolis VAMC for scheduled appointments.  Bus departs Monday through Friday at 8:00 am and returns at approximately 4:30 pm.  No service is provided on weekends and holidays.  48 hours notice is required.  Spouses and aides may accompany veteran if space is available.  There are no fees charged for these services.

Metro Bus

Fixed Route and Dial-A-Ride service available 7 days a week.  Coverage area includes St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Waite Park. 

Cost:  Effective January 4, 2009 - Cash fare is $.90 and transfer fare is $.25; Seniors and disabled riders fare is $.45 and $.10 transfer fare; Children 5 and under ride free; youth can ride free in the summer.  Please contact our office or visit our website for more fare and bus pass information.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Fixed Route Service - available for all general public, all fixed routes are handicap accessible
  • Dial-A-Ride Services - Must complete an application and be approved by the committee to ride DAR services.  The general public can ride DAR services Monday through Friday from 9:00 pm to Midnight.
