Collaboration

What is a Collaborative?

Collaboration is bringing together the strengths of many diverse organizations to work towards a common goal. For Family Services and Children's Mental Health Collaboratives, that common goal is to provide and expand prevention and early intervention services throughout the County. Collaboratives generate funds for achieving the Collaborative's goals by participating in the Local Collaborative Time Study (LCTS) program. With these funds Collaboratives are able to provide new services or expand existing services that focus on prevention and early intervention that will benefit families and children who may be considered "at risk". Preventive services may include services that prevent out of home placement, poor health, truancy, or poor achievement in school, or delinquency.

How is Tri-CAP associated with the Collaboratives?

Tri-CAP is a member of the Benton, Stearns, and Sherburne County Collaboratives. Tri-CAP is a mandated partner in a Family Services Collaborative, like Stearns County. Tri-CAP is an appointed voting member in both the Benton and Sherburne County Collaboratives. In December 2001, Tri-CAP was awarded the Administrative contract for the Stearns County Family Services Collaborative, and in March of 2004 Tri-CAP was awarded the Administrative contract for the Benton County Children's Mental Health Collaborative.

WINGS/MN Displaced Homemakers Program

WINGS (WoMen Investigating New Goals and Solutions), funded through the Minnesota Displaced Homemakers Program (DHP), is a pre-employment program for men and women who lack income due to death, divorce, separation, or disability of a partner. Through a series of workshops, one-to-one counseling and group support, participants can gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to achieve full-time employment and lead fulfilling lives. The WINGS program serves Benton, Stearns, Sherburne, Wright, Pine, Isanti, Chisago, and Kannabec counties. Groups are held in St. Cloud on Tuesdays at Anna Marie's, Wednesdays at Tri-CAP's downtown location and Thursdays at Journey Home. Monthly evening sessions are held at New Beginnings, Jill Eckhoff Transition House and DOMUS Transitional housing. Workshops in the outlying counties are conducted at the workforce centers on Tuesday and Wednesdays with a Friday workshop in the works for the future. Contact Jennifer Lieser or Joan Steele for more information.

Operation S.O.S. (Serving our Soldiers)

December 2007 -  St. Cloud, MN – Operation S.O.S. (Serving Our Soldiers) is a service based program designed to assist military personnel and their families during or following a deployment to a combat zone.  Through the Operation S.O.S. project, Tri-CAP provides a safe place for military personnel and their families to come to connect with resources and apply for support services that can help them get through the challenges that a military deployment has brought them.  It is because of the unique challenges and selfless sacrifices that military families are making to serve our Country that Operation S.O.S. is committed to doing all that it can to serve those who serve us.   Operation S.O.S. staff have compiled resources and are partnering with various companies and retailers in our community to attempt to “give back” and say thank you for all that the military personnel and their families have given up to serve our Country.    Upon verification of military orders confirming a deployment to a combat zone either now or within the last three years military personnel and their families residing in Benton, Stearns, Sherburne, or Wright County are eligible for support service grants to assist their families with a variety of needs that they may be faced with while their loved one is away or while their family becomes reacquainted following a deployment.  Whether it is help with shoveling the snow, cutting the grass, purchasing a new appliance, making needed home repairs, Operation S.O.S. can help.  Maybe the need is as simple as a family “movie night” or a “weekend away”.  Regardless of the complexity of the need Operation S.O.S. is here and WE WANT TO HELP.  Please call today, and allow us the opportunity to “give back”.
Tri-County Action Program, Inc., (Tri-CAP) is a federally designated Community Action Program for Benton, Sherburne, and Stearns Counties in central Minnesota.  ****Funding for Operation S.O.S. provided by the S.T.A.R.S. for Children’ Mental Health Network.
For more information about Operation S.O.S., or to schedule an appointment, please contact Brett Young at (320) 251-1612
