ENERGY ASSISTANCE
The purpose of the Energy Assistance program is to assist low-income households that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy, in meeting their immediate home energy needs. Tri-CAP serves residents of Benton, Stearns, Sherburne and Morrison counties. Applications are taken from October 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009. Some forms of assitance available to low income households through the Energy Assistance program includes:
Financial assistance towards a household's energy bill, emergency assistance if a household's home energy service is shut off or if the household is unable to get fuel delivered, advocating with energy-related services, such as weatherization improvements, furnace equipment repair and replacement, budgeting counseling and so forth. Households who are at or below 50 percent of the state median income are eligible. The size of the grant is based on household size, income, fuel type and energy usage. Funds are available for renters or homeowners.
The Energy Related Repairs (ERR) program is to correct emergency problems with heating systems for owner occupied dwellings.
REACH OUT FOR WARMTH
Reach Out for Warmth (ROFW) is a community based emergency fuel fund established to assist households over income for the Energy Assistance program.
WEATHERIZATION
The Energy Conservation Programs provide services to reduce residential energy consumption for income eligible households.
