You can get lead poisoning by simply breathing or swallowing lead dust or by ingesting soil or paint chips that contain lead. The Community Development Department offers several professional lead services which include:
Lead Paint Risk Assessment
This includes onsite investigation, visual inspection, structure history, location of hazards, and recommendations. Dust and soil sampling, as well as XRF Analysis take place to determine the lead hazard risks.
Lead Paint Inspection
This is a surface-by-surface investigation of all building components to determine locations and levels of lead paint. Dust and soil sampling is done upone request and XRF Analyses is done as well.
Lead Hazard Screen
This is a type of assessment to be done on paint coatings which are less likely to contain lead and determine if full assessment is necessary.
Lead Clearance Testing
This is a clearance test to determine that all lead hazards have been remedied and are no longer harmful.
